Learning the ropes about blackjack is easy. However, it is the mastery that is not. Basically, the count must be to your advantage at all times. You can even count along with the value to have a prediction of what is coming. Better yet, you can use these guidelines to ensure better game play.

First, sevens should be split if the card of the dealer is of equal or lower value. If you got a two or a three, split it with fours, fives and sixes. Also, aces and eights should always be separated despite the dealer’s cards.

Meanwhile, face cards, tens and fives should not be split for these can provide a good value. If you got a value of 17 or higher, settle with it. However, you should continue hitting until you are 17 or higher if the dealer has 10 or higher.

If your value is at 15 with the dealer having ten, you must surrender the hand. You should also do the same if you have 16 against the ace, nine or a ten. However, if your 16 is comprised of two eights, you must go on with the card.

Of course, great mental play must always be accompanied with stable emotions. Never lose your focus on the game and the flow of money will not stop as well. At the end of it all, your greatest foe is not the dealer but yourself.
